Module 1, Session 5 (Catch Up)

Session 5 (Catch Up)  Check in -  I feel that I am in a good place in terms of research and I am trying to get more to grips with the learning cycle. Currently I have now finished a draft, but the way in which I work I want to be able to read and edit it many times with time to spare. But bear in mind, if you're reading this, this is Thursday of this week for me and I have had my touter session. Where as, on Monday I had only had the introduction written and then I felt more confident to write more after the one to one session with my tutor Charlotte.  My ideal essay on the 4th of December -  I will submit a proof read full version of my essay, It will have covers all three of my points international creative training, storytelling and the social structures of a performers life. I hope it will have taught me something that I can use actively day to day.  Back-cycling my perfect essay-  For my 6th November draft I would like to have shown clear ideas a...

Module 1, Session 4 (Live)

Session 4  Tips to help us structure: Here is what my practice taught me... this is the basis of our essay. How am I thinking, how am I learning, what can I take from this practice.  An outline of my essay:  1) Self motivated international training and what I have and can learn from it. 2) Storytelling through my various art forms how this affects me and my audience.  3) The social aspects of working in the industry and how this affects us as artist.  I chose to describe this in a drawing of myself. linking to a story of discovery, restriction and freedom within a specific part of my show.  The relationship between the essay and the artefact: This is to demonstrate what your learning has been this dose not need to be directly linked to your practice. ie if your a dancer you do not have to do a choreography you can do a drawing etc.  Now adapting the drawing to a different means:  I feel like the drawing I did was bang on to cover all points ...

Module 1, Reading and primary reserch

Reading and Quotes  Personal Reflection on Professional Practices and Learning  outcomes  drafts  ideas reading: 1) International Self Motivated Training and learning in my respective art form s https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0122866 Maraz, A., Király, O., Urbán, R., Griffiths, M.D. and Demetrovics, Z., 2015. Why do you dance? Development of the Dance Motivation Inventory (DMI).  PloS one ,  10 (3), p.e0122866. "professional athletes are generally less motivated by mood enhancement and intrinsic factors (such as exercising for pleasure and satisfaction) that are important predictors of regular exercising among recreational athletes [ 27 – 29 ]. This is especially important because psychological factors mostly influence intrinsically motivated behaviour [ 30 ,  31 ] creating a possible point of intervention to enhance the drive to exercise or dance." "Mood Enhancement was by far the strongest motivational factor ...

Writing activity What is writing?  I think that writing is a form of comunications to help describe and get across information to other poeple. I also think that it is a way of storing information that can outlive us as there are many things written that we still learn from today. writing is also a physical thing is is the art of being able to control your hand and your head in order to get your point across. staying on the theme of this being a physical activity it also is the main thing that helps perfect our motor skills when children, so it is also a developmental milestone within childrearing and care. I am running out of ideas and it is very hard not to edit as I go, I do thin...

Module 1, Session 3 Solar System (Live)

Session 3 My solar system:  The sun = me, my planets as the ambition for my future carrier. Side note - I approached this in the way of, I have a lot of goals in a lot of different things, I can't really choose one main goal as I don't have one goal that is more important then the other. So I have made some small suns with explanation being their respective planets.  Planet 1 small sun - Creating choreography for commercial artists and live events specifically with dancehall artists such as Koffee and Lila Ike. Things that could help me get there: keep networking in dancehall spaces ie danchall choreographers and DJs (Nadia Zefinu, Miss Rose, DHKShortman). Also keeping a good relationship with my live event agency's. As well as re reading the Kabra Nagarst (Rastapharian Bible) as dancehall is also mainly a cultural phenomenon and less so a dance. Gaps that I want to fill: finding a dancehall glossary for all of the steps, finding more current choreographers, being able...

Module 1, Personal Reflection on Professional Practices and Learning outcomes ideas after first tutorial.

First tutorial reflections ideas:  Personal Reflection on Professional Practices and Learning  outcomes drafts  ideas: 1) International Self Motivated Training and learning in my respective art forms   Why do I do this?  I have been doing this since my travelling has become full time, I do this to try and be more "then just a stomper" but also because I have also dreamed of doing this since before I even went to school, I recently found in one of my old notebooks a fully planned and plotted trip to South Korea to learn from the multiple competitive studios out there, which I followed online for years, that in may opinion produce some of the highest quality group choreography in the world. I have always been drawn to how other places and practices approach effectively the same idea, but I have found from doing this, you can get to the same outcome in ways I never imagined, which I want to delve deeper into.  Who else dose this?  * Galen Hooks,...

Module 1,Second Session (live)

Second Session (live) :  Things I have learnt from my practice:  I have learnt that comedians/clowns don't like to be upstaged in the sense that their joke is THIER joke. I have also learnt that loving your training, truly giving yourself to this is what gets you through the good and bad performances.  Someone else's lesson that I have learnt from:  "I've learnt that adapting is fundamental and having strings to your bow is a very useful thing" - Pedro  This resonates with me as new skills and not being "the best" used to be a very scary idea for me because of the possible embarrassment and showing of ignorance and I've found now I can be very comfortable in this position as you tend to prove people wrong and surprise them the more you progress and put the work in.  "Bad situations usually have a way of figuring themselves out". - Hannah  I liked this quote as being in the working world I've seen this happen time and time again, were ...
